This is a true story.
We came from Brazil to the USA (our first time abroad) for Ette to do her post-doctorate. We have been in California for about a month when we were passing in front of a restaurant in Berkeley and I told her: "I know that guy sitting there! He’s a KAPer (Kite Aerial Photographer) friend on Flickr… I recognize him by his buddy icon!"
I thought about entering the restaurant to talk to him, but I’ve never seen him in person before, I couldn’t remember his name, and I thought that to be really him was a really long shot. I mailed him through Flickr and found out it was him after all!
Michael is a great guy. We went out with him and his wonderful family, and already KAPed twice (the photos are on their way). It’s incredible the number of things that must happen before people cross paths with each other, and we are glad that they happened.
So, if someone slightly familiar to you is staring at you, stare back a few moments too and ask: "Do I know you from Flickr?"

Esta é uma história verídica.
Viemos aos EUA para a Ette fazer seu pós-doutorado. Após um mês na Califórnia, passávamos em frente a um restaurante quando disse a ela: "Eu conheço aquele cara sentado ali! Ele é meu colega no Flickr e também faz fotos aéreas com pipa… eu o reconheço pelo ícone de exibição (buddy icon)!"
Pensei em entrar no restaurante para falar com ele, mas nunca o havia visto antes, não lembrava seu nome e, sinceramente, achava muito remota a possibilidade dele ser quem eu estava imaginando. Enviei-lhe uma mensagem pelo Flickr e descobri que era ele mesmo!
O Michael é um cara muito legal! Saímos com ele e sua adorável família, e já fizemos sessões de fotos com pipa duas vezes (as fotos estão a caminho). É incrível quantas coisas precisam acontecer para que o caminho das pessoas se cruzem, e estamos contentes de que tenham acontecido.
Portanto, se descobrir alguém ligeiramente familiar lhe encarando, encare também e depois pergunte: "Não nos conhecemos no Flickr"?
